Email Marketing

Email marketing promotes products or services while developing relationships with customers or businesses.

Email Marketing is the most profitable and effective way of marketing. Today every small and big business does email marketing. But it is confusing for beginners, I was in the same shoes when I started email marketing, and I am going to teach you everything I know and up and down experience and the tools you need.

What you learn about email marketing is:

  1. What is Email Marketing
  2. How does Email Marketing Work & What is the benefit of Email Marketing
  3. Email Marketing Strategy
  4. Write an Effective Email

1. What is Email Marketing?

You Should know email marketing is one of the oldest types of digital marketing or internet marketing, but it is the most remarkably effective digital marketing strategy.

Email marketing is a direct marketing channel that lets businesses share their service, products, sales, or updates about the company with their audience. In the digital marketing world, email marketing is ranked as the most effective digital marketing type for social media, SEO, and affiliate marketing. Email marketing is a low-cost, high-impact tool that helps increase audience engagement and drive sales or services.

But as always, like any type of digital marketing, you need to have a plan and strategy for email marketing.

Before we go through everything, you should know how many email types we have:

  • Transactional Email
  • Content Email
  • Conversion Email

Transactional Email: A transactional email is an email that is sent in response to an action a user should take on a website or application. Examples of transactional emails are (receipts, order confirmation sign-up details, forgotten passwords, support tickets, and more).

Content Email: The Email content is an email message sent to your audience (customers), prospect, or subscribers’ inbox using an automation platform, a dedicated email builder, or personally. It is an announcement for your new product, service, or promotions email.

Conversion Email: The conversion email is any email message sent to subscribers to take the path you point them toward in your message. For example, if your email promotes an event, a click-through to the registration page is progress, but a completed registration is a conversion.

A Brief History of Email & Email Marketing

In 1971, Ray Tomlinson (he was a computer engineer) sent the first email. The first message he sent was only some numbers and letters; that was the beginning of the email marketing revolution. Ray Tomlinson also introduced the “@” symbol in email addresses to the world. (It was an inspiring moment).

In 1978 Gary Thuerk used email to send to customers about a new product. In the 90s, the internet became available to most people and started changing the world. Everything was growing so fast, and marketers began to understand marketing emails are a very effective way to advertise.

2. How does Email Marketing Work & What is the benefit of Email Marketing?

That might be the most popular question, how to start email marketing? Well, stick with me; I’ll explain everything to you. Companies, businesses, or E-commerce are known as email service providers (ESP) to send marketing emails.

An email service provider is a software marketing tool (like Getresponse) that sends and manages email marketing campaigns.

If I want to break down how email marketing works, it would be 2 steps:

Start To make your Email List: The first step is to make the list of customers you want to send. If you don’t have this list, who do you like to send it to when you have no list? So, you need email marketing campaigns and plans; don’t worry, I will explain everything.

To start email marketing, you must capture leads to grow your email list with your target audience. This is not possible with great tools, and yes, for email marketing, you need email marketing tools.

What are email marketing tools?

Well, there are some companies and depending on your need, they provide services. They give you online tools to help you to target your audience and grow your email marketing.

They made each tool on the internet for a different purpose, but I researched which tools give more benefits and are also budget-friendly.

Here are these email marketing tools:

Getresponse: This website company is beneficial and has all you want for email marketing. They help you generate your lead, list your email, and manage them quickly; the good part is they have a free plan to start. It is a super budget-friendly company; I highly recommend it to beginners.

HubSpot: The HubSpot company is fantastic. They help you grow in email marketing but also help with every step you take in digital marketing. This company is highly recommended for big businesses, small business commerce, and E-commerce businesses. They are a little expensive for beginners, but their service is unique and worth it. I can’t say have much I love this company.

Now you have started understanding a little bit about emails, and you need to take some steps about how email marketing works. (You don’t have a strategy, don’t worry, I got you).

Between the 2 companies we just reviewed, I highly recommend going with the first one if you are a beginner or don’t own any business.

What are the benefits of Email Marketing?

We learned that email is not new technology. And email marketing was the very first type of digital marketing. Right now, email marketing is more valuable and practical than ever. About 87 percent of marketers use email marketing, and more than 300 billion e-mails are sent daily, based on the Statista report. (I know it’s crazy.)

We can talk about many reasons why email marketing is so beneficial, but I will break down the vital point. Here are 5 reasons why email marketing is profitable.

Brand Awareness: By sending helpful content, you can keep your business in your prospects’ minds whenever they are ready to engage. A personalized marketing email is more impactful than social media marketing.

Why is email marketing more impactful than social media marketing? Because you are in touch with the audience directly, and you know who they are and what your target is.

Availability: People like to see when you are available and when they can get in touch quickly via email. This availability helps create more engagement with your audience.

Brand Conversions: there is no other way better than email marketing to launch sales or promote your subscribers than making an email marketing campaign to reach your goals. Need more explanation? I got you; when you use these techniques, it helps you to boost your conversions of:

  • Coupons and promotions or any special offers for your audience for special days or any personal information you know from them, like anniversaries or birthdays, and you know what will happen next. It will give you extra engagement with your audience.

  • Sales or news updates, or anything you like to share with your audience, you can easily send it to all of them simultaneously with email marketing. It can be your new product or new update, or new service.

Customer Loyalty: Customer loyalty is what every business wants, so how can email marketing bring your customer loyalty? This is normal when you introduce your product or service by email. Some people refuse to click on it and don’t even check your email, but whoever does, continue to buy your products and services if they see what they are looking for from your business.

Now that you know what the benefits of email marketing are and know how important email marketing is, this brings a question of what strategy you need for email marketing. Don’t worry. This is how we go to the next step.

3. What is an Email Marketing Strategy?

When it comes to strategy, the first thing it comes to most people’s minds is it gets complicated, don’t worry. I will make it simple and understandable.

I have compiled a list of steps you should look at to create an email marketing plan in a few easy steps.

Here are the steps you should take about email marketing:

  1. Who is your audience
  2. Create your goals
  3. Build your email marketing list
  4. Choose an email campaign type

1. Audience

This is the first step. What do you want to do if you don’t know your audience? It is like aiming without any target. Understanding your audience is very important to you. You should start breaking down everything you want to do and who your target is, and you can start by talking to people, understanding what they want and their needs, and then you can build a strategy around your audience’s needs.

In addition, you also have to consider how your ROI will be impacted. Email service providers, or ESPs, tend to charge according to the size of your contact list. Once you have several subscribers above your current contact number limit, you’ll have to pay more to send an email to the entire list. When you have the right audience, this investment is worth it. But guess what? As I told you, Getresponse has a free plan to start up to 500 contents forever. This is the best opportunity to try it out and check and try email marketing for free.

2. Goals

This is the second essential action, so before you do anything, make sure you measure your goal and learn about your goal. Let me ask you what your goal is. That makes you think about the question, is that right? That’s good. Because this is precisely what we must do before taking any action. To achieve your goal, you need to write a very effective email.

To establish your goal for email marketing campaigns, align them with your business’s broader marketing goals and KPIs. So again, I ask one question what is your plan? Is it to increase signups for your updates and service? Or do you want to generate leads for your sales?

Write down your goals and try to make campaigns for those goals.

3. How to build your email marketing list

There are many ways to make your email list; it depends on your goals. If you have a website, you can add your subscribe button and ask your audience if they are interested can subscribe to your website.

Offering free things to your website visitors is one marketing method that often results in a lot of sales/ Free courses that are delivered via email are very popular, and people sign up for such courses regularly to learn more about the topic you share them. These courses are best maintained and delivered with the use of autoresponders.

Let me give two tips in the world of digital marketing; there is always a way to achieve your goals.

“Never buy an email list because they are not your audience, and it is just a waste of money. Second, do not account for email marketing because you don’t know the account’s history, and they t make your own journey.”

Don’t worry if you haven’t yet an email list; you need to start capturing your target email addresses and building your own list from scratch.

4. How to write an effective email?

Nowadays, we communicate more and more through email. We use email to write something to friends, relatives, colleagues, clients, or for business. Whoever is the recipient of your email, it is becoming essential to write it effectively. As you know, by writing effective emails, you can save time and other people’s time and win more trust and confidence from the other end.

Give a Replay of the Email As Soon As Possible

More and more people contact each other through email. Evan, if they mention it directly or not, they expect prompt responses. One study by Jupiter Research indicates That (35%) of customers expect a reply within six hours, and an additional (55%) expect a response within 24 hours. Though many people focus on response time, content is just as important. The same study indicated that a lack of a thorough response (45%) will cause online customers to view a company negatively when considering future purchases.

Learn the art of writing an email

A poorly crafted email will generate an additional email back & forth, potentially eating up more of your time. Worst, they can make unnecessary calls to your most costly channel – your phone. And at that point, customers are bound to be angry and frustrated.

So, what is the solution to it?

Here are some tips for writing email responses that are both thorough and appropriate:

1. format your response so that it’s easy to read on a screen. Do not write an email using long sentences, which are lengthy horizontally. Each line must be short. Ideally, write only 5-6 words in each line and not more than that.

2. make sure the subject line is concise and meaningful to the recipient… not just a generic “response from Marketing Team,” But also be careful that it doesn’t look spam.

3. Have one subject per paragraph. Mention this separately by blank lines, so it’s easy to read and understand.

4. Be brief. Use As few words as possible to convey your message. More is not better when it comes to email. An email is not perceived as an electronic letter.

5. Use simple, declarative sentences. You do not know the education level of your sender or the sender’s level of comfort with the English language. Write for a third or fourth-grade audience, particularly if you are creating templates that are sent automatically.

6. Be sensitive to the tone of the original email. If the sender is upset because of an error on your part, acknowledge the mistake. Clearly state what you are doing to correct the situation.

7. Make sure you answer all the questions in the original inquiry. A partial answer frustrates the sender and results in additional contacts. It also makes the company sending the response look inept.

8. Make it clear what actions you will take and when the writer can expect the next contact from you.

9. Don’t ask for an order number/case number or any old information which you remember out of your mind only when one is included in the original email… sounds pretty basic. Still, sometimes people miss very obvious info in emails.

10. Don’t just tell the sender to go to your website. In many cases, they have already been to the website and couldn’t find the answers they were looking for. If you want them to return to the website, provide a direct link to the information the reader needs.
